The modern age of technology in which most of the customer needs to wait in the supermarket for shopping because it is a highly time-consuming process. A huge crowd in the supermarket at the time of discount offers or weekends makes trouble to wait in long queues because of a barcode-based billing process. In this regard, the Internet of Things (IoT) based Smart Shopping Cart is proposed which consists of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors, Arduino microcontroller, Bluetooth module, and Mobile application. RFID sensors depend on wireless communication. One part is the RFID tag attached to each product and the other is RFID reader that reads the product information efficiently. After this, each product information shows in the Mobile application. The customer easily manages the shopping list in Mobile application according to preferences. Then shopping information sends to the server wirelessly and automatically generates billing. This experimental prototype is designed to eliminate time-consuming shopping process and quality of services issues. The proposed system can easily be implemented and tested at a commercial scale under the real scenario in the future. That is why the proposed model is more competitive as compared to others.

Pneumonia is a potentially life-threatening infectious disease that is typically diagnosed through physical examinations and diagnostic imaging techniques such as chest X-rays, ultrasounds, or lung biopsies. Accurate diagnosis is crucial as wrong diagnosis, inadequate treatment or lack of treatment can cause serious consequences for patients and may become fatal. The advancements in deep learning have significantly contributed to aiding medical experts in diagnosing pneumonia by assisting in their decision-making process. By leveraging deep learning models, healthcare professionals can enhance diagnostic accuracy and make informed treatment decisions for patients suspected of having pneumonia. In this study, six deep learning models including CNN, InceptionResNetV2, Xception, VGG16, ResNet50, and Efficient-NetV2L are implemented and evaluated. The study also incorporates the Adam optimizer, which effectively adjusts the epoch for all the models. The models are trained on a dataset of 5856 chest X-ray images and show 87.78%, 88.94%, 90.7%, 91.66%, 87.98%, and 94.02% accuracy for CNN, InceptionResNetV2, Xception, VGG16, ResNet50 and EfficientNetV2L, respectively. Notably, EfficientNetV2L demonstrates the highest accuracy and proves its robustness for pneumonia detection. These findings highlight the potential of deep learning models in accurately detecting and predicting pneumonia based on chest X-ray images, providing valuable support in clinical decision-making and improving patient treatment.

Cyber attacks are growing with the rapid development and wide use of internet technology. Botnet attack emerged as one of the most harmful attacks. Botnet identification is becoming challenging due to the numerous attack vectors and the ongoing evolution of viruses. As the Internet of Things (IoT) technology is developing rapidly, many network devices have been subject to botnet attacks leading to substantial losses in different sectors. Botnets pose serious risks to network security and deep learning models have shown potential for efficiently identifying botnet activity from network traffic data. In this research, a botnet identification system is proposed based on the stacking of artificial neural network (ANN), convolutional neural network (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), and recurrent neural network (RNN) (ACLR). The experiments are conducted by employing both the individual models, as well as, the proposed ACLR model for performance comparison. The UNSW-NB15 dataset is used for botnet attacks and contains nine different attack types including ’Normal’, ’Generic’, ’Exploits’, ’Fuzzers’, ’DoS’, ’Reconnaissance’, ’Analysis’, ’Backdoor’, ’Shell code’ and ’Worms’. Experimental results indicate the proposed ACLR model gains 0.9698 testing accuracy showing that it is successful in capturing the intricate patterns and characteristics of botnet attacks. The proposed ACLR model’s k values (3, 5, 7, and 10) for a K-fold cross-validation accuracy score is 0.9749 indicating that the model’s robustness and generalizability are demonstrated by k = 5. In addition, the proposed model detects botnets with a high receiver operating characteristic area under the curve (ROC-AUC) of 0.9934 and a precision-recall area under the curve (PR-AUC) of 0.9950. Performance comparison with existing state-of-the-art models further corroborates the superior performance of the proposed approach. The results of this research can be helpful against evolving threats and enhance cyber security procedures.

The idea of a smart home is getting attention for the last few years. The key challenges in a smart home are intelligent decision making, secure identification, and authentication of the IoT devices, continuous connectivity, data security, and privacy issues. The existing systems are targeting one or two of these issues whereas a smart home automation system that is not only secure but also has intelligent decision making and analytical abilities is the need of time. In this paper, we present a novel idea of a smart home that uses a machine learning algorithm (Support Vector Machine) for intelligent decision making and also uses blockchain technology to ensure identification and authentication of the IoT devices. Emerging blockchain technology plays a vital role by providing a reliable, secure, and decentralized mechanism for identification and authentication of the IoT devices used in the proposed home automation system. Moreover, the SVM classifier is applied to classify the status of devices used in the proposed smart home automation system into one of the two categories, i.e., “ON” and “OFF.” This system is based on Raspberry Pi, 5 V relay circuit, and some sensors. A mobile application is developed using the Android platform. Raspberry Pi acting as the server maintains the database of each appliance. The HTTP web interface and apache server are used for communication among the Android app and Raspberry Pi. The proposed idea is tested in the lab and real life to validate its effectiveness and usefulness. It is also ensured that the hardware and technology used in the proposed idea are cheap, easily available, and replicable. The experimental results highlight its significance and validate the proof of the concept.

Brain Hemorrhage is the eruption of the brain arteries due to high blood pressure or blood clotting that could be a cause of traumatic injury or death. It is the medical emergency in which a doctor also need years of experience to immediately diagnose the region of the internal bleeding before starting the treatment. In this study, the deep learning models Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), hybrid models CNN + LSTM and CNN + GRU are proposed for the Brain Hemorrhage classification. The 200 head CT scan images dataset is used to boost the accuracy rate and computational power of the deep learning models. The major aim of this study is to use the abstraction power of deep learning on a set of fewer images because in most crucial cases extensive datasets are not available on the spot. The image augmentation and imbalancing the dataset methods are adopted with CNN model to design a unique architecture and named as Brain Hemorrhage Classification based on Neural Network (BHCNet). The performance of the proposed approach are analyzed in terms of accuracy, precision, sensitivity, specificity and F1-score. Further, the experimental results are evaluated by comparative analyses of the balanced and imbalanced dataset with CNN, CNN + LSTM and CNN + GRU models. The promising results are achieved with CNN by imbalancing the dataset and gain highest accuracy that outperforms the hybrid CNN + LSTM and CNN + GRU models. The results reveals the effectiveness of the proposed model for accurate prediction to save the life of the patient in the meantime and fast employment in the real life scenario.
