Biography

Dr. Maria V. Golikova holds a Ph.D. in clinical pharmacology, which she received from the Zakusov Institute of Pharmacology in 2008. At present, she is employed at the Gause Institute of New Antibiotics. Maria V. Golikova was educated at the Biology faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University (1996–2001). Her doctoral research focused on confirming the "Mutant Selection Window" hypothesis and predicting bacterial resistance to glycopeptide antibiotics when used alone and in combination with other antibacterial agents, using in vitro dynamic models. She has more than 20 years of experience in the field of pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) of antibiotics, and her previous and current research interests include PK/PD modeling as well as the mechanisms of bacterial resistance to antibiotics. She also is interested in "antibiotic concentration/resistance" relationships, the investigation of the in vitro effectiveness of antibiotic combinations, and beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitor combinations.
