Dr. E.J. Huising is a trained soil scientist from Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR) where he also obtained his PhD on the application of GIS and RS techniques for land use planning in the Atlantic Zone of Costa Rica. He has worked in Africa since 1999, as senior lecturer at Makerere University Institute of Environment and Natural Resources (MUIENR), as the Sustainable Land Management research program leader at the Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility (TSBF) institute of CIAT and for 11 years as senior soil scientist at IITA, where the responisbiities inlcude the management of the agricultural consultancy services unit (AgriServe) under the Business Incubation Platform (BIP) of IITA. He has coordinated several multi-country projects dealing with different aspects of soil health and soil productivity and has a large number of publications on his name.
