Morten Thaysen-Andersen leads the Analytical Glycoimmunology Group, Department of Molecular Sciences, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. His research program aims to elucidate the glycobiology underpinning our innate immune system and the dysregulation of protein glycosylation that cause or arise from immune-related disorders including microbial infections, acute/chronic inflammation and cancer. Neutrophil glycobiology is a focus area. His team develops and applies quantitative glycomics and glycoproteomics technologies using advanced mass spectrometry while also drawing on existing tools in protein and carbohydrate chemistry and methods in immunology, structural biology and molecular biology to unravel the fundamental glycobiology of our innate immune system.
