The main research directions I have pursued during my academic training focus on the mineralogical analysis of: (i) the surfaces of icy bodies within our Solar System through the study of natural and synthetic analogues, and (ii) geomaterials used in the construction of roadbed foundations and composite cements. In both areas, I have applied the skills acquired throughout my studies, including the analysis and processing of data from: • X-ray powder diffraction (and single-crystal diffraction), with quantitative phase analysis using the Rietveld method; • thermogravimetric techniques (TG, DTG, and DSC); • spectroscopy, in particular reflectance and emissivity in the near and far infrared (VNIR–TIR); • scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for the morphological characterization of newly formed mineral phases and acquisition of semi-quantitative chemical analyses. My work also includes the study of mineral phases at high pressure using synchrotron radiation, as well as archaeometric analyses of ceramic artefacts.
