Dr. Athina E. Patelarou has been serving as an Associate Professor of Evidence-Based Clinical Practice and Precision Nursing at the Nursing Department of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) since 2017. She received her Master’s degree in Public Health and Healthcare Administration from the School of Medicine, University of Crete, in 2012. She received her Ph.D. in the field of Evidence-Based Clinical Practice from the School of Health Sciences, University of Athens, in 2015. Her academic experience started in 2011 at the Department of Nursing of Technological Institute of Crete (2011-2015), where she was appointed as a clinical tutor in the fields of “Surgical Nursing” and “Child Nursing and Maternity", and later, in 2015, as a scientific collaborator, teaching “Cardiovascular Nursing”. In 2015, as a Special Scientist, and in 2016, as a Scientific Associate, she was the module leader of “Emergency Nursing” and “Occupational Nursing” in the Department of Health Sciences of the European University of Cyprus (2015-2016). Since 2017, she has been an Assistant Professor at the Nursing Department of the HMU. She was employed as a contract clinical nurse in the Department of Surgical Oncology of Henry Dynan Hospital Center (2004-2005). She served as a registered nurse in the Surgical Department of the General Hospital of Korinthos (2005-2009), and subsequently, for almost nine years, in the Anaesthesiology Department of the University Hospital of Heraklion (2009-2017).
