Ginkgo biloba L. has significant health benefits and considerable economic value, but harvesting the fruit is highly labor-intensive. Mechanical vibration harvesting has been shown effective in harvesting various fruit types. In the study of vibration harvesting, the research on the vibration characteristics of fruit trees focuses on the natural frequency (resonance frequency), model, and damping coefficient, which are the main factors affecting the vibration characteristics of trees. But field harvesting experiments have shown that the tree structure may have an impact on the vibration characteristics of the fruit tree and the efficiency of mechanical harvesting. In addition, the research on the damping coefficient of fruit trees is mainly low-frequency damping, and the relevant results cannot be applied to the actual vibration harvesting frequency range. Applying a natural frequency with low damping coefficient to excite a tree can reduce additional energy dissipation. This study explored the influence of ginkgo crown structure on the vibration characteristics and the law of damping changes with frequency. After counting 273 ginkgo trees, two typical ginkgo crown structures, monopodial branching and sympodial branching, were selected to be analyzed for vibration spectrum and damping coefficient. The vibration models for different crown-shaped ginkgo trees were simulated to analyze the vibration state at different frequencies. For sympodial branching ginkgo trees, the consistency of natural frequencies at different branches was better than monopodial branching ginkgo trees. The finite element model analysis shows that monopodial branching ginkgo trees have mainly partial vibrations at different branches when vibrating at high frequencies. The high-frequency vibrations in sympodial branching reflect the better overall vibration of the canopy. The damping coefficients for the two crown types decreased with the increase in frequency. The monopodial branching damping coefficient was 0.0148–0.0298, and the sympodial branching damping coefficient was slightly smaller at 0.0139–0.0248. Based on the test results, the sympodial branching ginkgo tree has better vibration characteristics. The results indicate that controlling the crown structure of fruit trees to be sympodial branching by pruning may help improve the overall vibration characteristics of fruit trees.

To reduce the cutting force and cutting energy consumption during the operation of tree-climbing pruning machines for poplar trees, a linear cutting test bench device for branches was designed according to the growth characteristics of poplar branches and pruning forestry requirements in this study. Firstly, the cutting mechanical analysis of poplar branches was carried out to explore the significance parameters affecting the cutting force, and then the cutting performance test and parameter optimization of poplar branches was carried out through the response surface method (RSM). The test results indicated that cutting speed, tool edge angle and tool back angle had significant effects on the ultimate shear stress, cutting power consumption per unit area, and the branch damage rate of poplar branches, and the established regression equation demonstrated high goodness of fit. Meanwhile, a second-order regression mathematical model was developed between ultimate shear stress, cutting the power consumption per unit area of the cut and the branch damage rate, and the significance parameter. The non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) was used for multi-objective optimization computation to obtain the optimal combination of cutting parameters as 3.02 m/s for cutting speed, 15° for tool edge angle, and 3° for tool back angle. In this case, the ultimate shear stress, cutting power consumption per unit area, and branch damage rate of poplar branches were small, which were 346.63 kPa, 9.35 mJ/mm2, and 12.36%, respectively. Through the test verification, it can be seen that the relative error between the verification test and the predicted value of model was less than 7%. Moreover, under a cutting tool edge angle of 15°, the ultimate shear stress, cutting power consumption per unit area, and branch damage rate were, respectively, reduced by 17.29%, 14.98%, and 34.21% compared with those under a cutting tool edge angle of 20°, which verifies the validity and reliability of the test results and the research method. This study can provide data support and reference for the research and development of energy-efficient poplar tree-climbing pruning equipment and related branch-cutting performance tests.

In this paper, an improved bounce-back boundary treatment for fluid systems in the lattice Boltzmann method [Yin, X.; Zhang J. J. Comput. Phys. 2012, 231, 4295–4303] is extended to handle the electrokinetic flows with complex boundary shapes and conditions. Several numerical simulations are performed to validate the electric boundary treatment. Simulations are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and capability of this method in dealing with complex surface potential situations, and simulated results are compared with analytical predictions with excellent agreement. This method could be useful for electrokinetic simulations with complex boundaries, and can also be readily extended to other phenomena and processes.

The operational stability and vibration performance of large-scale ventilation fans used in forestry storage facilities are critical for ensuring the safety and environmental control of timber and wood-based materials. To effectively reduce vibration levels and mitigate resonance risks, this study proposes a structural parameter optimization method that explicitly considers substructure uncertainty. By establishing an interval uncertainty optimization model, critical substructures and key structural parameters affecting natural frequencies were systematically identified. Structural parameters were optimized using response surface methodology to maximize the separation between the fan’s natural frequencies and its operating frequency, thereby reducing the likelihood of resonance. Experimental results validated a substantial reduction in vibration levels, confirming the method’s effectiveness in enhancing operational stability and prolonging the service life of these large-scale ventilation systems. This approach provides valuable insights and practical guidance for vibration control and reliability improvement of mechanical equipment in forestry storage and environmental control systems
