Joel Weadge is an Associate Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University. He earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Guelph in 2006 and his BSc in Honors Microbiology from the University of Guelph in 2000. He also completed his postdoctoral research at the Carlsberg Research Centre in Copenhagen (2007–2008) and in the Molecular Structure and Function Program at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto (2008–2011). The main focus of his research is to utilize a combination of structure- and function-based approaches to characterize biofilm components produced by E. coli and Salmonella in an effort to understand how each component is synthesized and its importance to biofilm formation.
