Marcin Schmidt graduated with MSc from the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland in 1997, majoring in molecular biology. He held a one-year scientific fellowship at the Allegheny University of the Health Sciences in Philadelphia, USA. He received his doctorate at the Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznan, Poland) in 2002. Then he joined the Department of Food Biotechnology and Microbiology at Poznan University of Life Sciences (former August Cieszkowski University of Agriculture).
