Milan K Piya is an Associate Professor in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University, as well as a clinical academic endocrinologist at Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals. He is a council member of the Australia and New Zealand Obesity Society (ANZOS), and chairs the Research Committee at Campbelltown Hospital. He is the Research Lead for the South Western Sydney Metabolic Rehabilitation and Bariatric Program (SWS MRBP) at Camden Hospital and the Clinical Lead for the Inpatient Diabetes Service at Campbelltown Hospital. He completed his Ph.D. study on obesity and metabolism at the University of Warwick. He was a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion from 2014 to 2016 and the Chair of the Young Diabetologists and Endocrinologists Forum (YDEF) from 2013 to 2014. He has a clinical and research interest in Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and associated health conditions, particularly in the context of severe obesity.
