This study estimated biomass and carbon from components, future carbon values and to obtain economic productive value of carbon fixation of a Seasonal Semideciduous Forest. Biomass and carbon were estimated using adjusted equations and selected using regression statistics. The prognosis of the diametric distribution was performed using the movement ratio method. In the economic evaluation, it was estimated productive value of the stand, referring to the current and future carbon fixation capacity. The coefficients of determination (adjusted R²) of the equations ranged from 0.11 to 0.90 and the standard error of the estimate (Syx) ranged from 41.53% to 141.89% for the biomass of the components, and from 0.03 to 0.87 for adjusted R² and from 46.20% to 143.64% for the error, for stored carbon in the components. The total biomass of the tree component estimated was 56.25 t ha-1 and 25.88 t ha-1 of total carbon. Using the future distributions by the method of the ratio of movements, total stored carbon (aerial + roots) estimated was 14.44 t. ha-1 over the 20-year period. The productive value for the fragment reached R$ 299.95 per ha. year-1.

The objective of this work was to model the diametric growth of Melia azedarach trees, in the region of Campanha, state of Rio Grande do Sul. 31 trees that showed no signs of pruning were randomly selected. Three increment borers per tree were removed, the first being 30 cm from the ground for age development and the other two orthogonal at 1.3 m (dbh) for growth analysis. Linear models with and without intercept were fitted to estimate the diameters with bark (y) as a function of the diameter without bark (x), using several transformations of the independent variables (x). In the modeling, the stepwise method was used for variable selection, being kept in the models only as a variable with the highest adjusted R² and with a significant F value at 5%. Next, multicollinearity was resisted through the variance survival value (VSV), being kept in the models only as the most significant variables by the t-test and with VSV less than 10. The selection of the best ones considered was based on the Standard Error of Estimation in percentage (Syx%), Coefficient of Determination adjusted (adjusted R²) and, in the case of diametric growth lines, the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) was also used. The species presents moderate to fast growth and reaches sufficient dimensions for the production of wooden parts for joinery and carpentry. Among the medications used to describe diametric growth, the Chapman-Richards medication presented the best result, with statistics that allow its safe use under the conditions of this study.

The estimation of total tree height is a fundamental step in forest inventories, being essential for quantifying timber stock and supporting management planning in planted forests. However, direct measurement of this variable requires considerable operational effort and is usually performed only on subsamples, making it necessary to use hypsometric models to estimate the height of remaining trees. In this context, the present study aimed to configure, train, and validate regression models and machine learning algorithms to estimate the total height of individual trees in Eucalyptus spp. plantations located in Lavras do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Two areas with different ages (12 and 15 years) were analyzed, totaling 395 trees measured for diameter at breast height (DBH) and total height. Logarithmic and N¨aslund models were fitted, along with Random Forest and Artificial Neural Network algorithms, using data partitioning into training (80%) and validation (20%) datasets. Model performance was evaluated using root mean square error (RMSE), percentage bias (BIAS), and coefficient of determination (R²). For the overall dataset, the logarithmic model showed the best predictive performance. In the 12-year-old stand, the N¨aslund model presented better results, whereas in the 15-year-old stand, the Artificial Neural Network achieved superior performance. Overall, all tested techniques demonstrated satisfactory performance for total height estimation, indicating that regression methods remain efficient and operationally simpler, while machine learning algorithms tend to provide advantages for larger and more complex datasets. The integration of traditional statistical approaches and artificial intelligence represents a promising alternative for advancing forest modeling.
