Information

Prof. Dr. Oleg A. Rakitin is head of the Laboratory of Polysulfur-Nitrogen Heterocycles at N. D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia. He graduated with a diploma in chemistry from the M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1974 and a PhD in 1992. His research interests include acyclic and cyclic heteroatom chemistry with a particular emphasis on the synthesis and chemistry of N,O, N,S, and polysulfur heterocycles. While the primary goal of Prof. Rakitin’s chemistry has been to discover new synthetic methods, he has also worked closely with collaborators to exploit potential applications in both biological and materials sciences. Prof. Rakitin is also a member of several editorial boards, including Butlerov Communications, Universal Journal of Chemistry, and Cogent Chemistry. In 1999, he became a member of the Scientific Council of the N. D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences.
