Prof. Dr. José Pedro Garcia-Sabater is a Full Professor of Operations Management in the Department of Business Organization at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain. He received both his Ingeniero Industrial degree and PhD from the Universitat Politècnica de València, and holds a Combined Engineering Degree from Coventry University (UK). His teaching and research interests lie in the areas of supply chain and operations management, with a particular focus on empirical studies across key industries—especially the automotive sector, where he has successfully secured funding to support his research collaborators. He actively applies mathematical programming, combinatorial optimization, and discrete-event simulation to promote process improvement and organizational change in both large corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Notably, the algorithms currently used to manage the assembly line sequencing process at Ford España were designed, programmed, and tested in the laboratory he leads at UPV. In addition to Ford and its suppliers, numerous SMEs also utilize software and algorithms developed in the same laboratory. Together with his ROGLE research team, he has led several regional and national research projects and participated in multiple European-funded initiatives. His studies have primarily addressed production planning and inventory coordination, while also extending to related fields such as job design for people with disabilities.
