Alexandros Kafetzis is a Ph.D. candidate that joined Chemical Process Energy Resources Institute (CPERI) of the Centre for Research and Technology – Hellas (CERTH), as a research engineer in 2018. He graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2017. His area of expertise lies within the modeling, optimization, and control of power generation processes and energy storage systems. His thesis treats the subject of advanced control strategies for energy storage systems, with special focus on various renewable energy sources and storage mediums. He is currently involved in two ongoing research projects, both dealing with the management of systems that supply power in remote off-grid areas with the exploitation of renewable sources.
