Dr. Christoforos Benetatos was born in Greece in 1977. He obtained his basic degree in Geology, his Master’s of Science (MSc) in Geophysics and his PhD in Geology/seismology from the Geological Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Greece. Since 2007 he is working as a Post doctoral Research fellow in the Department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino, Italy. His scientific interests include petroleum geology, seismology and geophysics. His research is focused on 3D geological modeling of the reservoir, well log and core analysis, stratigraphic analysis, integrated petrophysical characterization, geostatistics and risk analysis. He is working on methodologies for the monitoring of the reservoirs during cyclical variations of the pressure caused by the storage activity, on seismic interpretation of 2D and 3D datasets and on the design of seismic monitoring networks. He is teaching for the Master course in Energy Engineering & Operations of the Politecnico di Torino for the Reservoir Geology and Reservoir simulation courses and for the Environmental Spatial Analysis and Reservoir Engineering courses offered during the Bachelor’s degree program. The last 17 years he participated in numerous research projects cooperating with scientists from all around the world. He authored more than 50 publications on seismology, geophysics and petroleum geology and he participated in national and international conferences.
