Prof. Laurent Debelle received his PhD in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of Reims Champagne Ardenne (URCA) in 1995. After several years of post-doc in the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry at the University of Potenza (Italy), he was recruited in 1998 as Associate Professor of Biochemistry in URCA, France. In 2009, he was appointed full professor. His research has always been focused on elastin structure–function relationships and their significance in pathophysiological states, notably during aging. The approaches he uses are at the interface of biology, biophysics and numerical simulations. He has authored more than 40 papers, one patent and has been invited to present his work in major matrix-related congresses. He is a Member of the French Society for Matrix Biology, of the International Society for Matrix Biology and of the French Biophysics Society. Since 2019, he is an Honorary Senior Researcher in the Division of Cell Matrix Biology and Regenerative Medicine, School of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Biology Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester (United Kingdom).
