Dr. Andrea Mattarei holds a B.Sc., an M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Sciences, all from the University of Padua. After postdoctoral research in chemistry, biology, and neuroscience, he established the Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry Lab at the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences, University of Padua, in 2017. Since 2023, he has served as Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry. His research bridges medicinal chemistry and chemical biology, with a focus on the design and synthesis of small molecules for biomedical imaging and pharmacological applications. He is also strongly engaged in industrial collaborations for the development of new active pharmaceutical ingredients targeting depression and other central nervous system disorders. His interdisciplinary expertise spans organic synthesis, molecular pharmacology, and translational drug discovery.
