Biography

I am Darius Jakimavičius, born in 1983, a researcher with a strong interest in hydrology and environmental engineering. My work combines scientific research with practical approaches to understanding water systems and their response to climate change and human influence. I earned my Bachelor’s (2005) and Master’s (2007) degrees in Geography from Vilnius University, and my PhD in Technological Sciences (Environmental Engineering and Landscape Management) from Kaunas University of Technology in 2012. I began my scientific career as a hydrologist at the Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve in Lithuania. Since 2008, I have been working at the Lithuanian Energy Institute, where I currently serve as Senior Research Associate. I also held the position of Innovation Manager from 2018 to 2020. I am a member of the Doctoral Committee of Environmental Engineering at Kaunas University of Technology. My research focuses on river runoff modelling under climate change scenarios, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of hydrological processes, and hydroenergy systems. I have supervised PhD research and taken part in more than ten PhD defense committees. Through my work, I aim to connect field data collection with advanced modelling tools to improve understanding of water and climate interactions and to support sustainable environmental management.
