Prof. Qingchuan Zhang earned, from the University of Science and Technology of China, a BS in Solid Mechanics (1984), an MS in Solid Mechanics (1987), and a PhD in Optic Experimental Mechanics (1994). He has now been a professor at the Department of Modern Mechanics, University of Science and Technology of China, since 2001. He worked as an Engineer at Tosoku Corporation (1993–1997) and assistant professor at Saitama University (1997–2001). His current research interests include experimental research on slip bands using dynamic DSPI, the mechanism of formation and
propagation of slip bands, the microspeckle interferometry/microspeckle correlation, the nano-structure effect on slip deformation, experimental research on bionics, and experimental research on Laser destroy.
