Juan A. Gómez-Pulido received PhDs in physics, electronics specialty, from Complutense University, Madrid, Spain, in 1993. He is currently a full professor in the design of processors at the Department of Technologies of Computers and Communications, University of Extremadura, Spain. He has authored or co-authored 80 ISI journals, nearly 100 book chapters, and 300 peer-reviewed conference proceedings. He has participated in 19 funded research projects, leading some of them. His main research interests include machine learning applied to big-data analysis, bioinformatics, reconfigurable and embedded computing based on FPGA devices, optimization, and evolutionary computing. He is an IEEE Senior member.
