Prof Wenzhong Shi is Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Professor in Urban Informatics, Chair Professor in GISci and remote sensing, Director of PolyU-Shenzhen Technology and Innovation Research Institute (Futian), Director of Smart Cities Research Institute, Head of Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Joint Research Laboratory on Spatial Information, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Wuhan University. He served as President of Commission II for International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (2008-2012) and President for Hong Kong Geographic Information System Association (2001-2003). He also serves as an editorial board member for multiple international journals. Prof Shi obtained his doctoral degree from University of Osnabrück in Vechta, Germany in 1994. He is Fellow of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. He has been honored as Chair Professor, Chang Jiang Scholars, by Ministry of Education, China; recipient of Distinguished Young Scholar Fund (B), by National Natural Science Foundation; and Science and Technology Leaders in Surveying and Mapping, by National Administration of Surveying Mapping and Geoinformation, China.
