Asst. Prof. Gordana Kenđel Jovanović, PhD is a nutrition scientist at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, Croatia and Teaching Institute of Public Health of Primorsko-goranska County. She completed her higher education in the field of nutrition and biomedical sciences and has extensive experience in nutrition research and public health nutrition. Her work focuses on dietary patterns, obesity, metabolic complications, and the interaction between nutrition, inflammation, and the gut–brain axis. She coauthored a university textbook on health ecology, and collaborated on numerous research projects on the inflammatory potential of diet in obesity, lipidomic changes associated with metabolic complications, and nutrition sustainability. She currently leads the project “MINDGUT-Nutrition and Mental Health: Gut–Brain Axis and Systemic Inflammation in the Student Population.” She was a Croatian coordinator for the Erasmus+ project Sports Community Against Eating Disorders (SCAED). Her research resulted with numerous publications in international journals and presentations on international congresses. She contributes to public health activities such as Školica zdrave prehrane, Just Sport, and RiMove, and manages educational nutrition websites for schoolchildren and physically active population. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Best Research Paper Award at the 8th Croatian Congress on Obesity.
