Biography

Andreas Blennow (born 1961) received his M.Sc. in Biotechnology in 1988 and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1992 at Lund University, Sweden. After postdoctoral work at Lund University, a research position at the plant breeding company Svalöf AB, a study leave at Oregon State University, and a postdoctoral position at the Australian National University, Canberra, he was appointed at Copenhagen University and is now an Associate Professor with special qualifications, heading the Starch Group at this University. His main research area is starch and polysaccharide bioengineering and polysaccharide structure-function modeling related to foods and advanced biomaterials. His research embraces the production of modified polysaccharides (e.g., resistant starch) directly in cereals and tubers using transgene technology and enzyme-assisted processing of starch to modulate its performance and degradability.
