Biography
Alfonso Susanna has worked on the tribe Cardueae since 1981. Together with Núria Garcia-Jacas, he pioneered the molecular studies in the tribe and compiled the latest revisions of the Cardueae. He has carried important field collections in Central Asia, North Africa, and the Mediterranean Region, always focusing on the Cardueae. He presented his PhD in 1982 in the Autonomous University of Madrid. He is currently a senior scientist at the Botanic Institute of Barcelona.
