Aimilia Papakonstantinou is an Assistant Professor in Nutrition and Metabolism, Dept Food Science and Human Nutrition, Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. She graduated with B.Sc as a Dietitian and received her M.Sc in Dietetics and Nutrition from the Dept of Foods and Nutrition, University of Georgia (UGA), USA. She worked at UGA as a Research and Teaching Instructor (1998-2003). She received her PhD from the Dept of Dietetics, Harokopio University, Athens, and worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant (2003-2006). She worked as a Dietitian at the 2nd Propaedeutic Pathology Clinic of University of Athens, Research Unit of University of Athens and Diabetes Center, University General Hospital “Attikon” (2006-2013). Her research activities involve a variety of population groups, healthy, overweight/obese, or people who have been diagnosed or at risk of chronic diseases. Her main research interests include the investigation of the effects of functional ingredients and/or foods and/or dietary patterns, as well as habits on health indices, glucose metabolism, glycemic index, appetite, anthropometry, stress indices, and gut microbiota. She has strong experience in designing/executing randomized controlled clinical trials and experimental/observational studies, including the collection and analysis of data using various tools. She has participated in EU-funded and national research projects. She has also received several private food industry funding for her research.
