Prof. Afsaneh Rabiei is a Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at North Carolina State University and Founder and CEO of Advanced Materials Manufacturing, LLC, Raleigh, NC, USA. She holds a Ph.D. in Advanced Science and Technology (1994–1997) from the University of Tokyo. She was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Harvard University from 1997 to 2000 and spent half a year as a Visiting Professor at Northeastern University in 2002. She is interested in the processing and characterization of advanced materials, metal foams, coatings, and composites. Her goal is to create new materials along with improving the properties and performance of existing materials by altering their manufacturing techniques and by studying their micro-structural and mechanical characterization and failure analysis.
