Dr. Gymama Slaughter is the Executive Director of the Old Dominion University Research Center for Bioelectronics. She received her B.S. in Chemistry in 2001, M.S. in Chemical Engineering in 2003, and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005. Her research interests include biosensors, nanosensors, microfabrication technology, and BioMEMS. Her honors and awards include the NSF’s prestigious CAREER AWARD, NIH G-RISE Award, Up and Coming UMBC Inventor Award, Greater Richmond Technology Council RichTech Educator Award, and the Richmond Joint Engineers Consortium Community Service Award. She is the associate editor of the IEEE Sensors Journal and the Nature Scientific Reports Journal.
