Professor Taiha Joo received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry from Seoul National University, Korea in 1984 and 1986, respectively. He then moved to Cornell University, USA receiving PhD. degree in physical chemistry under the supervision of Andreas C. Albrecht in 1993. Following the postgraduate work at the University of Chicago with Graham R. Fleming, he joined the POSTECH Department of Chemistry in 1996 and became a full professor. He is a director of the Center for Quantum Dynamics funded by National Research Foundation. He is a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology.
Professor Joo’s research aims to elucidate the microscopic dynamics of prompt chemical and physical processes in condensed media using femtosecond time-resolved spectroscopies and theoretical methods including quantum chemistry and molecular dynamics simulations.
