Prof. Sobhi Mohamed Gomha is a distinguished scholar in organic chemistry. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in organic synthesis of bioactive heterocyclic compounds from Cairo University, Egypt, in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2011 and Full Professor in 2016. Since January 2019, he has been affiliated with the Faculty of Science, Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. His research focuses on synthetic heterocyclic chemistry and its applications in medicine, energy, water treatment, and industry, with emphasis on green chemistry methods such as microwave irradiation, ultrasound, grinding, and ionic liquids. By September 2026, he had published 490 research papers and books, held two patents, and received about 10,800 citations with an h-index of 59. He has supervised 21 M.Sc. and 10 Ph.D. theses, served on the editorial board of 45 journals, reviewed for more than 200 journals, and contributed to faculty promotion and Ph.D. thesis evaluations. His honors include the Best Paper Prize from the Egyptian Heterocyclic Chemistry Society (2015), Best Researcher in Chemotherapy Award (2024), EoD2025 Award from Scientific Reports, and Best Researcher at the Islamic University of Madinah (2022). He has also received annual appreciation certificates from Cairo University and was listed among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University from 2019 to 2025. His work combines synthetic innovation with broad interdisciplinary applications.
