Information

Prof. Dr. Claudia Barolo is a Full Professor in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Torino. She graduated cum laude in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Torino in 1997. In 1999, she coordinated a young research project on “Functionalized Polymeric Materials for Electroluminescent Devices”, and she started her Doctorate project. In 2001, she obtained her Doctorate in Chemical Sciences. In 2002, she worked at the LPI, EPFL, Lausanne (CH), under the supervision of Prof. M. Grätzel, on the “Synthesis of Novel Photosensitizers for Nanocrystalline Solar Cells”. In 2004, she obtained a post-graduation Specialty in Chemical Synthesis. In 2004-2005, she was granted a Research Fellowship at the University of Torino. In 2014, she worked as an Associate Professor in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Torino. Her research activity is devoted to the synthesis and characterization of functional molecules (surfactants and chromogens) and hybrid materials (organo-inorganic) for fine chemicals with nonconventional technological applications (photonics, nanotechnology, biotechnology), with special attention to the hybrid solar field. Since 2004, she has been a member of the NIS Center of Excellence. She was invited as a teacher in International Schools devoted to Organic Photovoltaics (ISOPHOS 2008 and 2010 and NANOLICHT) as well as to several dissemination-devoted meetings for investors and industries in this field. Dr. Barolo has published more than 110 papers.
