Yi Zhang received his B.S. in Physics from the Peking University (2006) and his Ph.D. in Condensed Mater Physics from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Science (2011). After that, he joined Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and Stanford University as a postdoc from 2011 to 2015. He has been a Professor at the School of Physics, Nanjing University since 2015. His work in the MBE growth of novel 2D quantum materials has resulted in 70+ publications and awards in the Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (2023) and the Elsevier Most Cited Chinese Researchers (2021-2025). His research interests are the interfacial effects and correlated electron phenomena in 2D quantum materials and heterostructures, including novel magnetism, charge density waves, and topological phases.
