I’m Farid Sroor, born in Sohag, Egypt. I am currently a Full Professor at the National Research Centre (NRC) in Cairo. My designation at NRC began on 19.08.2008, when I joined the institution as an Assistant Researcher. After completing my Ph.D. on 03.06.2015 under Professor Frank Edelmann at the University of Magdeburg, Germany, my position at NRC was upgraded on 01.11.2015. In 2016–2017, I was honored to receive a postdoctoral grant from the Embassy of France in Cairo, which allowed me to work at LCC–CNRS in Toulouse under the supervision of Professor Michel Etienne. During this period, my main work focused on the preparation of novel organocalcium and strontium compounds based on cyclooctatetrane (COT) as the surrounding ligand, and on testing their catalytic activity in C–C and C–N bond formation. Following this, in 2021, I obtained a postdoctoral scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt, which supported a six-month research stay at the University of Göttingen under the supervision of Professor Herbert Roesky. More recently, in 2023, I visited the Faculty of Pharmacy at Marseille University for one month as a postdoctoral grant from the Embassy of France in Cairo, in collaboration with Dr. Cédric Spitz. My research interests primarily involve the design and synthesis of new organic compounds expected to exhibit biological activity, including anticancer, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties.
