Shao-Ju Shih received an M.S. degree from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, and a Ph.D. degree from the Department of Materials, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK, in 2009. From 2009 to 2010, he was with Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA, as a Research Associate. He is currently a Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taipei. His areas of interest are the synthesis and characterization of oxide and metal nanoparticles, grain boundary engineering, and observations of transmission electron microscopy. Additionally, his expertise extends to areas such as bone and dental implant materials substitution, antibacterial bioceramics, and conducting bioceramic composite materials. Prof. Shih's approach to research is characterized by his ability to devise innovative solutions to a wide range of challenges within these fields. He possesses extensive knowledge and experience in the development of nano-oxides and bioceramic composites, with a particular focus on biocompatible advanced nano-oxide and bioceramic composites. Notably, he has successfully employed spray pyrolysis and spray drying methods for mass production, capable of achieving production scales within kilograms, to address the pressing needs of today's society.
