Entrepreneurial education (EE) has recently become popular at universities of economics almost all over the world. Various teaching methods play a very important role in the development of the future entrepreneurs. Therefore, in order for a student to become a successful entrepreneur, it is important to find the most effective tool for the teachers to support entrepreneurship education and find the ideal connection between the needs of the students and the right choice of a teaching method. There is a large gap between the needs of the business environment and university studies of this area. The research is based on 214 questionnaires, which were filled in by the students of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice in 2018-2019. The aim of the paper is to find and analyse the preferences of teaching methods for students of management based on the following criteria: gender, faculty, degree of study. The students expected to be taught by active methods, e.g. experts lectures and business simulators. Differences in the use of teaching methods were the most evident among students from different faculties.

Sustainability has recently become a phenomenon; small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly emphasizing the principles of sustainability in their corporate governance. They implement these changes through project management. The purpose of the paper is to determine the critical success factors in project management, as seen by the managers of Czech manufacturing enterprises, related to the most to the successful completion of the projects. We aim to analyze the relation of these success factors to Industry 4.0, Human Resources, and sustainability. We determined the possible interconnectedness of the critical success factors using correlation coefficients. Then, we compared them using the Mann-Whitney test with new corporate management trends. The results show that companies consider Leadership and Experiences, and Employees and Flexibility to be key factors in project management’s success. The most important critical factor for the sustainability of projects focused on Industry 4.0 is the finances that decide the implementation of projects. The benefits of Industry 4.0 concerning sustainability have been identified in projects aimed at implementing new energy sources. In addition to the results obtained, the development of a methodology for evaluating Industry 4.0 projects’ success concerning sustainability may be based on critical success factors in the future.

Due to the new information and communication technologies, it is now possible to disconnect work from space and time and to take advantage of new ways of organizing work. One of the options is teleworking (TW), currently being implemented throughout Europe due to the condition created by the coronavirus pandemic. The aim of the paper is twofold: (i) to analyse a range of factors (size of the enterprise; foreign owner; written strategy; project-driven enterprise; disabilities; work-life balance; benefits, lack of workers, illness, lower cost, relax at work and comfort; renting space, IT level) influencing the duration of TW implementation in the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and (ii) to better define the differences between the SMEs where TW was introduced in a short time, and those introducing it over a longer period. Out of the total of 31 factors, six factors have been proved to have a different impact on the duration of TW implementation (TW implementation due to higher efficiency; monitoring is performed only according to the results; the managers see the disadvantage of TW in its possible misuse; the enterprises use internal TW regulations; the managers see the main advantage as higher operational flexibility; the introduction of TW, due to the balance of work and family life). All together, 44,000 SMEs in the Czech Republic were invited into the research. The data were collected from 1,018 enterprises, with 60% of the enterprises using TW actively; on average, these enterprises have been using it for seven years.

Industry 4.0 is related to major changes, particularly in production. As such changes might have major implications for the labour market; the paper focuses on the assumptions of the human capital and its preparedness for Industry 4.0 in the Czech Republic. The findings are based on EUROSTAT, MEYS, OECD, ISCED, CZSO, and WEF. Based on such data, twelve indicators were selected and described in the results. Subsequently, the correlation analysis was carried out, using the data of the Czech Republic in order to estimate which indicators are related and thus to obtain a more detailed view of areas that need to be improved. The level of computer skills in the Czech Republic are increasing. Internet connection is around 80%. The share of technical workers in the Czech Republic is in the range of 30–40%. In terms of expenditure on education, the Czech Republic belongs to the countries of the eastern region. The number of graduates of technical professions managed to catch up with the development of the European Union (EU). In terms of employment in High-tech and Medium-high-tech areas, the Czech Republic is one of the leaders in the EU. Czech students have great potential in basic computer skills.

Currently, it is of no importance if the enterprise is large or small, they both have to struggle for the same – the have happy and motivated workers who work in an efficient way. Every enterprise wants to employ such workers, who share the same aims as the organization. It is possible to achieve such goal by the enterprise if it sets up a system for the remuneration of employees according to the requirements of the present time and according to its employees. Reward is one of the important elements to motivate employees for contributing their best effort to generate innovation ideas that lead to better business functionality and further improve company performance both financial and non-financially. Besides employee remuneration, it is necessary for the managers to use modern tools of project managers as the classic approach to management processes based on regulation of current deviations in not sufficient in current time of turbulent changes. The approach has been developed in many areas of life and project attitude to dealing with problems is more desired in enterprises. The paper deals with an analysis of remuneration in small and middle-sized enterprises with project management in the Czech Republic. In addition to the definitions of the most important terms, the hypothesis is tested in the paper, revealing that the managers of organizations with project management assess the system of remuneration (motivation) better compared to those who do not use project. The data were obtained through personal survey with 358 SME managers.

Small and medium-sized enterprises play an important role in the European economy as a source of entrepreneurial skills, innovation and employment. Strategic management is vital for long-term competitiveness of these organizations, and even more significant when struggling with a crisis. Enterprises with strategic management are able to look into their future and their managers are able to recognize upcoming issues in advance so they are much better prepared for them. Crisis is then perceived as a phenomenon which is more common than rare. It is therefore essential that businesses reflect the aspects and impacts of the crisis in a corporate strategy and managers learn to manage crises effectively. The article deals with a partial research of the management of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech Republic. It is focused on defining a strategy by the managers of these organizations and the assessment of the significance of crises. Only about 25% of the companies formulated a strategy for the future direction of the organization. The crises happen in all organizations, varying in degrees and intensity. The importance of crisis is evaluated by the managers by an average rate of 3.4 (where the highest rate was five). The aim of the article is an assessment of the importance of crisis as seen by the managers in strategically managed organizations structured according to sectors of the economy. For primary data collection, the questionnaire method was used.

The paper discusses strategic planning of different municipalities and common plans of the association of municipalities within the micro-regions of South Bohemia in Czech Republic, which were posted on their websites. Based on a content analysis of these documents and their comparison recommendations were suggested to improve the strategic plan, identify gaps and to use strategic tools, e.g. Balanced Scorecard, benchmarking, project and process management. Absolute majority of the analysed strategic plan does not meet the criteria of complexity and thus cannot use this important tool of strategic management to effectively contribute to the future development of the municipalities or micro-regions.
