Dachamir Hotza obtained a BS degree in Chemical Engineering
and an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of
Santa Catarina (UFSC) in 1988 and 1991, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in Materials
Engineering from Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH), Germany, in
1996. He is a full professor in the Department of Chemical and Food
Engineering, and he is a supervisor of the Laboratory of Ceramics Processing and Laboratory for the Development of Nanostructures at the Federal University of
Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil. He performs research in Chemical Engineering and
Materials Engineering. He has published more than 400 papers; one of his
co-authored papers, “Tape casting of preceramic polymers toward advanced
ceramics”, was the most downloaded article in 2019 in all American Ceramic
Society journals. He also co-authored the book “Manufacturing Technology of
Ceramic Tiles” (in Portuguese). He is a co-author of six patents and was awarded
the Caspar Erich Stemmer Prize for Innovative Researcher, edition 2021. He was
awarded as the coordinator of the best graduate interchange program
Brazil-Europe in 2013, sponsored by the European Commission. He is a member of
ACerS since 2002 in the Basic Science and Manufacturing Divisions. He is an
associate editor of the ACerS International Journal of Ceramic Engineering and
Science and belongs to the editorial board of nine other journals. His current
interests are nanotechnology and sustainability.
