Biography

My Ph.D. research is on the assessment of genetic diversity in a population derived from the open-pollinated crosses between Latin American and Africa cassava germplasm as well as the validation of KASP SNP markers associated with CMD resistance, increased provitamin A and dry matter content in three populations independent from the population used for the discovery of markers. The significance of the research is to know the level of genetic variation among genotypes in the study population and also to increase the quick-uptake of markers linked to key traits in cassava by providing useful and relevant information (technical and biological/breeding metrics) that are needed in breeding to support selection decisions. I have an interest in improving any crop for economic traits by using the knowledge and skills (conventional and molecular breeding approaches) I have acquired during my research. I am also open to acquiring more skills in the field of next-generation sequencing. Educational qualifications: - PAU Institute of Life and Earth Sciences including health and agriculture, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria (PhD. in Plant breeding - in view) - Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana (M. Phil. in Plant breeding (Grade A) - 2016) - Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria (B. Agric. in Plant Science (Second class upper division) - 2011)
