Dr.
De-Quan Yang is a renowned
applied physicist and materials scientist. He began his career at the Chinese
Academy of Space Technology (CAST) in Beijing, earning his Ph.D. in 1997. He
underwent postdoctoral training at Ecole Polytechnique Montreal from 1999 to
2001 and later worked as a senior research staff member at Western University
from 2009 to 2011.From 1990 to 1999, he served as a
research officer at the Lanzhou Institute of Space Technology, focusing on
space environment simulation and the effects of materials in space
environments.Dr. Yang was recognized by the Wuxi
government with the 530 Project award from 2011 to 2015 for his innovations in
new energy materials. He co-founded a company specializing in superfine nickel
and cobalt powders during this time.In 2016, he founded Solmont Technology in
Wuxi, China, leading developments in antibacterials based on nanoparticles and
self-cleaning coatings for photovoltaic applications. His lab focuses on
enhancing antibacterial coatings, developing superwicking surfaces for
biomedical devices, and healthcare applications.Since 2013, Dr. Yang has been a professor
at the North Research Institute of Coating Design and Research in Lanzhou,
China. His work in space materials has earned him multiple awards from the
Chinese Ministry of Space. Dr. Yang holds nearly 30 patents across China, the
US, and Canada, contributing significantly to material science, healthcare, and
renewable energy.
