Biography

I finished my Bachelor's Degree in 1989 obtaining the Extraordinary Award. I got two research grants through which I achieved a Doctorate in 1992 at the University of Valencia. I was hired the same year as assistant professor at the University Jaume I of Castellón (Spain) until 1998, when I became Associate Professor of Clinical Health Psychology. Since October 2017 I have been a Full Professor at University Jaume I of Castellón. All my teaching has focused on this area and I have obtained two awards for the quality of teaching at my university and other distinctions as the best teacher. Since 1998 I have been a director of the research group "Health Psychology: Prevention and Treatment" and a director of the Research Unit on Sexuality and AIDS (Salusex-Unisexsida). This is a health center dedicated to the sexual health promotion for the university community. My scientific interest is mainly directed towards clinical health psychology (palliative care, critical care, HIV…) and the promotion of sexual health with more than 30 funded research projects, 20 books, 100 papers published in prestigious journals as "Aids and Behavior", "Journal of Health Psychology "," Journal of Community Health "or" Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy" and 250 contributions to international conferences. I have also held various positions of university management. I was vice dean of my faculty for three years and since 2013 I have been Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
