Thomas Oommen is a professor and chair of the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Oommen’s research focuses on remote sensing and machine learning for geohazard and infrastructure monitoring problems. He has been awarded over $10 million in research and travel grants for the past ten years. Dr. Oommen is actively involved in the Transportation Research Board as the committee research coordinator of AKG60, and he is the Chair of the ASCE Geoinstitute Engineering Geology and Site Characterization committee.
