To understand the effect of cavitation on the tip leakage vortex (TLV), turbulent cavitating flows were numerically investigated using the shear-stress transport (SST) k–ω turbulence model and the Zwart–Gerber–Belamri cavitation model. In this work, two computations were performed—one without cavitation and the other with cavitation—by changing the inlet pressure of the pump. The results showed that cavitation had little effect on the pressure difference between the blade surfaces for a certain cavitation number. Instead, it changed the clearance flow and TLV vortex structure. Cavitation caused the TLV core trajectory to be farther from the suction surface and closer to the endwall upstream of the blade. Cavitation also changed the vortex strength distribution, making the vortex more dispersed. The vortex flow velocity and turbulent kinetic energy were lower, and the pressure pulsation was more intense in the cavitating case. The vorticity transport equation was used to further analyze the influence of cavitation on the evolution of vortices. Cavitation could change the vortex stretching term and delay the vortex bending term. In addition, the vortex dilation term was drastically changed at the vapor–liquid interface.

To improve the recognition rate of chip appearance defects, an algorithm based on a convolution neural network is proposed to identify chip appearance defects of various shapes and features. Furthermore, to address the problems of long training time and low accuracy caused by redundant input samples, an automatic data sample cleaning algorithm based on prior knowledge is proposed to reduce training and classification time, as well as improve the recognition rate. First, defect positions are determined by performing image processing and region-of-interest extraction. Subsequently, interference samples between chip defects are analyzed for data cleaning. Finally, a chip appearance defect classification model based on a convolutional neural network is constructed. The experimental results show that the recognition miss detection rate of this algorithm is zero, and the accuracy rate exceeds 99.5%, thereby fulfilling industry requirements.

Based on the van der Waals (vdW) interaction between carbon atoms, the interface cohesive energy between parallel single-walled carbon nanotubes was studied using continuous mechanics theory, and the influence of the diameter of carbon nanotubes and the distance between them on the cohesive energy was analyzed. The results show that the size has little effect on the cohesive energy between carbon nanotubes when the length of carbon nanotubes is over 10 nm. At the same time, we analyzed the cohesive energy between parallel carbon nanotubes with the molecular dynamics simulation method. The results of the two methods were compared and found to be very consistent. Based on the vdW interaction between parallel carbon nanotubes, the vibration characteristics of the two parallel carbon nanotube system were analyzed based on the continuous mechanical Euler-beam model. The effects of the vdW force between carbon nanotubes, the diameter and length of carbon nanotubes on the vibration frequency of carbon nanotubes was studied. The obtained results are helpful in improving the understanding of the vibration characteristics of carbon nanotubes and provide an important theoretical basis for their application.

Based on the shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model, the influence of different outlet pipe angles on the head and efficiency of a boiler circulating pump was analyzed. When the outlet pipe angle changed from 115° to 130°, the head and efficiency of the pump reduced significantly. The boiler circulating pump with 115° outlet pipe angle was selected as the further research object, and the reliability of the numerical simulation was verified by experiments. The transient flow of the prototype pump under the design flow rate condition (1.0Qd) and four other flow rate conditions (0.6Qd, 0.8Qd, 1.2Qd, and 1.4Qd) was studied. The results show that, under the conditions of design flow and large flow rate (1.0Qd, 1.2Qd, and 1.4Qd), the centrality and regularity of radial force distribution are obviously better than those of small flow rate (0.6Qd, 0.8Qd). The leakage of the rear seal ring is less than that of the front seal ring under five flow rate conditions. As the flow rate increases, the leakage of front and rear seal rings decreases, and the leakage ratio of front and rear seal rings increases. The energy loss of the rear cover plate is greater than the energy loss of the front cover plate under five flow rate conditions. With the increase in flow rate, the total loss energy of the prototype pump decreases first and then increases, and the energy loss of the disc becomes larger and larger.

Single circular targets are widely used as calibration objects during line-structured light three-dimensional (3D) measurements because they are versatile and easy to manufacture. This paper proposes a new calibration method for line-structured light 3D measurements based on a single circular target. First, the target is placed in several positions and illuminated by a light beam emitted from a laser projector. A camera captures the resulting images and extracts an elliptic fitting profile of the target and the laser stripe. Second, an elliptical cone equation defined by the elliptic fitting profile and optical center of the camera is established based on the projective geometry. By combining the obtained elliptical cone and the known diameter of the circular target, two possible positions and orientations of the circular target are determined and two groups of 3D intersection points between the light plane and the circular target are identified. Finally, the correct group of 3D intersection points is filtered and the light plane is progressively fitted. The accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified both theoretically and experimentally. The obtained results indicate that a calibration accuracy of 0.05 mm can be achieved for an 80 mm × 80 mm planar target.
