Biography

Dr. Erman Salih İstifli is an Associate Professor specializing in genetics and bioinformatics at Çukurova University, Türkiye, where he earned his Ph.D. in Biology in 2014. During his doctoral research, he joined the molecular cytogenetics group at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin, investigating the genetic basis of rare human diseases. His experimental contributions supported studies implicating GRIA2, GLRB, NPY1R, and NPY5R in neurodevelopmental and obesity-related phenotypes. His research bridges experimental genotoxicology, molecular cytogenetics, and computational drug discovery. He integrates molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, binding free-energy calculations, and ADMET profiling to investigate bioactive compounds, with particular emphasis on phytochemicals and therapeutic targets relevant to metabolic disorders, neurodegeneration, and cancer. His recent collaborative work explores shared molecular pathways in type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease, connecting structural insights with hypotheses for experimental validation. In 2016, he served as an expert evaluator and rapporteur for eight proposals under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Innovative Training Networks programme. He has also served as a reviewer for more than 100 SCI-indexed journals and remains actively engaged in international research collaborations and training in molecular docking.
