My initial research focus was on the floristic and phytosociological knowledge of mountain areas, which remains a primary interest of mine. I later moved into the functional ecology of plant communities, particularly in stressful habitats such as high mountains, Mediterranean grasslands, and coastal vegetation. In parallel, I have pursued applied activities, mainly related to vegetation mapping, plant conservation, and ecological restoration. Underpinning all these activities, my overarching scientific goal is to understand the relationship between species composition and vegetation functioning.
