Prof. Dr. Carlos Coelho is an associated professor of habilitation in the Civil Engineering Department of Aveiro University, where he completed, in 2005, a Ph.D. in civil engineering in the field of coastal engineering. He is responsible for several curricular units in the area of hydraulics of the civil engineering courses at Aveiro University. He was the president of the board of the Portuguese Association for Water Resources (2021–2023) and he was the president of the Specialized Commission for Coastal and Marine Zones of the Portuguese Association for Water Resources (2018–2021). He is the president of the General Assembly of the Portuguese Association for Water Resources and he is one of the Portuguese delegates at PIANC—the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure. His research is published in several international and national journals and international and national conference proceedings papers. He was a member of the commission that followed the Littoral Working Group and also collaborated on consultancy work, developing coastal management plans and sediment dynamics and hydrologic studies.
