Purpose: Digital economic innovation is associated with risks. The lack of a platform's profitability weakens the operation's ability to sustain innovators and increases the possibility of the business' termination. Relevant data demonstrate a significant upward trend in the exit of Chinese innovators of the digital economy. The study aims to clarify the role of an effective government and effective market in the prevention and control of the withdrawal of innovators.Design/methodology/approach: Based on balanced panel data of 31 provinces and cities from 2010 to 2018, this study uses the individual fixed effect model to study the impact of the marketization level, the market's scale and government interventions on the withdrawal of innovators. Simultaneously, based on the spatial econometric model, this study examines the spatial spillover effect of the withdrawal of innovators.Findings: Results indicate that government interventions have an inhibiting effect on the withdrawal of innovators. Moreover, there was a positive “U”-shaped nonlinear relationship between the marketization level and the withdrawal of innovators, and an inverse “U”-shaped nonlinear relationship between the market size and the withdrawal of innovators.Originality/value: The paper first studies the relationship between the exit of innovators and government intervention, marketization level and field scale; takes the lead in the research on the role of the government and effective market in the prevention and control of the exit of innovators from the perspective of the exit of innovators and puts forward policy suggestions to promote the sustainable and healthy development of fintech innovation in China from the market scale and other aspects.

Data factors have become an essential factor of production in today’s digital era, and provided renewed energy for China’s green and high-quality development. This study analyses the impact of data factor-driven industries on green total factor productivity (GTFP) and the underlying mechanisms using panel data of 277 Chinese cities from 2008 to 2020. The results show that: First, the urban data factor-driven industry can enhance GTFP. Second, the data factor-driven industry can increase the input–output ratio and enhance GTFP by promoting AI technological innovation and AI technological entrepreneurship. Third, the heterogeneity analysis show that in regions with high levels of digital technological innovation, the market size of data factor-driven industries is larger and the effect of data factor-driven industries in enhancing GTFP is more significant. And in regions with low levels of savings, the data factor-driven industry has limited capital availability and is more efficient in using capital, which has a stronger effect on GTFP enhancement. This study provides valuable empirical evidence on the relationship between data factor-driven industries and urban GTFP, and important policy implications for fully leveraging the green economic effects of data factors, and promoting green and high-quality urban development.

Cash holdings are an essential element of corporate decision-making. Culture, such as the unique Chinese red culture created by the Communist Party of China during the Revolutionary War, affected corporate economic decisions. This study systematically evaluated the impact of red culture on corporate cash holdings. Based on a theoretical analysis, this study conducts an empirical analysis using data on Chinese-listed companies from 2008 to 2021. The results show that: (1) red culture reduces corporate cash holdings. For each unit of red cultural influence, corporate cash holdings decreased by 1.5979% points. (2) The role of red culture in reducing corporate cash holdings is heterogeneous; it plays a greater role in high long-term investment corporations than in low long-term investment corporations, in high investment opportunity corporations than in low investment opportunity corporations, and in duality corporations than in non-duality corporations. This study can help global investors understand China's culture and capital markets and will be the first step toward exploring the economic impact of red culture.
