Dr. Marta Roldo is an Associate Professor in Biomaterials at the School of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Portsmouth. She obtained her PhD from the same institution, focusing on azopolymers for colonic drug delivery, before joining as a lecturer in 2005. Dr. Roldo’s research focuses on composite biomaterials, particularly in the development of antimicrobial surfaces for orthopaedic and dental applications. She workes on one-dimensional nanostructures, such as silver nanowires and modified carbon nanotubes, as well as composite hydrogels for biomedical use. Her research spans drug delivery, biofilm prevention, and tissue engineering. Her work involves close collaboration with partners across academia and industry, contributing to advancements in biomaterials that improve healthcare and biomedical technologies.
