I am a Senior Scientific Officer in the Animal Biotechnology Division of the National Institute of Biotechnology (NIB), Bangladesh, where I have worked since 2013. From 2018 to 2025, I served as Deputy Project Director of the National Gene Bank Project of Bangladesh. I began my career as a Scientific Officer with the Department of Livestock Services (2004–2008). I earned my B.Sc. in Animal Husbandry and M.S. in Animal Breeding and Genetics from Bangladesh Agricultural University. With a Chinese Government Scholarship, I completed my Ph.D. in Animal Genetics and Breeding at China Agricultural University (2012), followed by postdoctoral research at Huazhong Agricultural University (2013). My research focuses on genetic diversity and conservation, molecular genomics and SNP-based marker-assisted selection, particularly genes linked to milk production and disease resistance in livestock. I have led national projects on molecular markers, livestock genetic diversity and DNA barcoding. I have published 27 peer-reviewed journal articles, 14 as first author, and supervised more than 18 graduate theses. I have trained at Wageningen University and IIM Ahmedabad, and received an Early Career Bursary from the International Society for Animal Genetics (2017). I am a life member of the Bangladesh Buffalo Association and One Health Bangladesh.
