I am Dr. Siddique Akber Ansari, working at King Saud University KSA. Medicinal chemistry is a field of study that combines knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, and biology to design and develop new pharmaceuticals that can be used to treat a wide range of diseases. My research interest in medicinal chemistry stems from my fascination with the intricate mechanisms of the human body and the potential for developing new therapies to improve human health. One area of medicinal chemistry that I find particularly intriguing is drug design and discovery. This involves identifying molecular targets within the body that are involved in disease processes, and then designing molecules that can interact with these targets in a way that either enhances or inhibits their activity. This approach has led to the development of many life-saving drugs, such as antibiotics, antivirals, and cancer chemotherapeutics. This involves understanding how drugs are processed within the body, including how they are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and eliminated. By understanding these processes, researchers can design drugs that are more effective and less toxic, by optimizing their pharmacokinetic profiles. I am also interested in computational methods in medicinal chemistry.
