Tiago Santos works in the field of non-canonical nucleic acid structures-protein interactions, namely G-quadruplexes (G4) - Nucleolin interactions, applied to cancer field. He has particular interest in studying the interactions between RNA G4s and nucleolin, namely G-quadruplex-forming sequences in pre-miRs, using an array of biophysical and biochemical techniques. Additionally, he is focused on the structural determination of these complexes by NMR spectroscopy. Recently, dedicated attention to G-quadruplex probes to detect nucleolin and diagnose cancer.
