Sharifu Ura is full professor of design and manufacturing at Kitami Institute of Technology (KIT) in Japan, leading the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1992. He then completed his Master’s in 1996 and Ph.D. in 1999 at Kansai University in Japan, focusing on manufacturing. Sharifu Ura has mentored many students throughout his career. He worked as an Assistant Professor at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok from 2000 to 2002 and then at United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain from 2002 to 2009, where he became an Associate Professor. He has published widely and serves on the editorial boards of international journals. His current research includes smart manufacturing, 3D printing, sustainable product development, reverse engineering, remanufacturing, precision manufacturing, and engineering education, focusing on practical applications in the industry.
