Daynan is currently a Sr. Data Scientist with NLT, where he helps lead the firm’s overall data science practice and specializes in advanced statistical analysis and predictive analytics in the domains of Urban Science and Earth Observation.
Prior to NLT, Daynan has led research and development projects in applied data science and machine learning, including an approach leveraging satellite data (nighttime lights and air quality monitoring) to understand economic activity and the impacts of COVID-19, a computer vision-based model for data extraction, an automated real estate valuation model, and a statistical inference-based approach to monitoring I.T. network and infrastructure systems for the City of New York.
Daynan’s research has centered on informatics (data retrieval and inference related to information systems) with applications for Urban Science and the built environment. He is particularly interested in the development of scale-able methods of signal processing and image analysis to better bring remote sensing to bear on complex challenges involving cities and international development. He is also interested in methods of causal inference for machine learning in the context of remote sensing, Earth Observation, and Urban Science.
